Preparing them for the bitter war to come
For a vision came to Sitting Bull
That the long knives were to fall
If the many northern tribes answered
                 the call

The Lakota, the Arapaho
And the Northern Cheyenne too
Came to band together for the cause
Led by Chief Gall and Crazy Horse
Those warrier tribes rode tall
And George Custer's 7th Cavalry would fall

In June of eighteen seventy six
When the west was really wild
Two hundred and sixty eight
Brave soldiers died that day
And pulling down our statues
